The Tessellated Gecko is a small, ground-dwelling gecko from
the arid interior which seldom grows to more than 8 cm long. Its back colour varies from a uniform
reddish brown to a mottled grey and minor spotting may be present on the tail and over the shoulder.
The scales on its short, fat tail are different to those on the rest of the body. This gecko
is nocturnal, sheltering by day in mud cracks or under stones.
