The Spiny-tailed Gecko varies in colour depending on the habitat
in which it lives. However, delicate spines above the eyes and in two rows along the back and
tail are conspicuous. This gecko emerges from loose bark in the evening to feed on insects and
spiders. The special pads on its feet allow it to run along smooth surfaces or clamber through
the fine needle leaves of spinifex bushes in pursuit of its prey. A sticky substance, exuded
from its tail pores, may deter potential predators.
